Subject: Call for papers

SIP members:

Call for papers-
As one of the guest editors (together with Laurence Després from Grenoble,
France, and Célia Carlini, from Porto Alegre, Brazil)of the special issue on
"Insecticidal Toxins" to be published by “Toxins”, a peer-reviewed open
access journal of toxinology, I am very pleased to invite researchers to
contribute to this issue by submitting a review, a feature or a regular
paper on entomopathogenic fungi.

As indicated on the web page of this special issue (
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/toxins/special_issues/insecticidal_toxins/ ), it
intends to provide an overview on current progress made in the research and
development of biologically based insecticides derived from bacteria, fungi,
plants and arthropods. The biological aspects and issues will be addressed
at the molecular, the cellular and the population levels. More specifically,
it is expected that this issue of Toxins will constitute an update on topics
like host biology, mode of action of insecticidal toxins, synergisms, cell
responses to toxin aggression, host resistance, interguild interactions,
environmental persistence, effects on non-target organisms, transgenic
constructs, impact on human health, etc. Furthermore, the use of biological
toxins as templates for synthetic insecticides will also be considered.
Finally, the economic and social impact of the use of insecticidal toxins
will be covered, e.g. public good vs. commercial approaches, regulatory
policies, risk assessment, evaluation and communication, and users’ and
public attitudes.

Potential authors may also want to consult the Toxins’ site at
http://www.mdpi.com/journal/toxins/ for instructions for authors, etc. and I
will be more than happy to provide more information if needed.

Researchers in the insecticidal toxin field should contact me as soon as
possible to let me know if they are interested in publishing an article in
Insecticidal Toxins. They are also invited to let colleagues know about
this project either by forwarding them this call for papers (with copy to
me) or by providing me with their names and coordinates so I can contact
them directly.
