Dear Luis (and everybody else on Entomofungo-L),
Please forgive my posting in English. I would be happy to examine a
sample of the infected flies or any culture you want to send to the US
for me to examine. I have seen this issue of Cladosporium as a possible
pathogen of white flies and aphids arise in Brazil several times, and
always remain hopeful for some more definitive information about whether
the fungus is present as a very common saprobe growing on cadavers of
insects that died from any other cause (chemical, fungal, or whatever)
or whether the Cladosporium is a comparatively weak primary pathogen.
There are experimental ways to decide this if anybody wants to take the
time to do the work.
In any case, I think that I am as well positioned to provide
identifications of the fungus as anybody else reading this list, and I
would be happy to have the chance to do so.
I look forward to seeing all of you who will be attending Siconbiol!
